Privacy Policy

Last updated May 24, 2026. This policy explains what information Outpost collects and how it is used.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, account details, saved trips, saved places, notes, preferences, and support messages.

We may also collect basic technical information, such as device type, app version, approximate region, log data, and usage events that help us understand performance and improve the product.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to provide and improve Outpost, save your trip planning data, support permit and campsite planning features, respond to requests, troubleshoot issues, protect the service, and communicate important updates.

3. Location and Outdoor Planning Data

Outpost may use places, parks, trails, campgrounds, dates, and related planning details you save to power app features. If location-based features are offered, you can control location permissions through your device settings.

4. Connected Recreation.gov Accounts

If you choose to connect or sign in to a Recreation.gov account through Outpost, we may process account credentials, authentication tokens, or related account information so we can operate the features you request, such as monitoring availability or helping with reservation actions.

We use encrypted transport and encrypted storage for retained Recreation.gov credentials or tokens, and we limit use of that access to providing the connected-account features. You should only connect an account you own or are authorized to use, and you may contact us to request disconnection or deletion of connected-account information.

Recreation.gov is a third-party service with its own terms, privacy practices, account rules, and security practices. Outpost is not responsible for Recreation.gov's systems, policies, account decisions, reservation outcomes, fees, cancellations, or availability.

5. Sharing Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us operate Outpost, comply with legal obligations, enforce our terms, protect rights and safety, or complete a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

6. Third-Party Services

Outpost may link to or use third-party services for maps, reservations, analytics, app distribution, hosting, or support. Those services may process information under their own privacy policies.

7. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain security.

8. Your Choices

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal information by contacting us. Some information may be retained where required by law, for security, or for legitimate business records.

9. Children

Outpost is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Security

We use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information. No internet or app service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

11. Contact

Privacy questions or requests can be sent to hello@joinoutpost.app.
